Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining supports electricity sector in Kurdistan Region

Cairo, Feb. 6 (AKnews) The Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining that belongs to the Arab league has said on Saturday that meetings were supposed to be held in Kurdistan Region to provide technical and industrial support for the Region, especially in the electricity sector.
"The Organization will hold meetings during the coming period in Kurdistan Region to repair and rehabilitate the power lines in Kurdistan especially and in Iraq in general," Mohammed Iben Yousef, the Director General of the Organization said during a conference attended by the correspondent of the Independent National News Agency of Kurdistan (AKnews).
He assured that :"there is a need to support Iraq in order to provide basic services to citizens, especially in the field of electricity. "
Iben Youssef said that he met with the Arab League Secretary-General, Amr Moussa, on Saturday, and discussed with him the industrial development in the Arab world and the advancement of common investments in various economic sectors, to give effect to the decisions of the Arab Economic and Development Summit that was held in Kuwait in January 2009, in addition to Arab coordination with the countries of South America to increase the opportunities for common cooperation and the preparation for a meeting between the two sides in Quito at the end of February.
He noted that "Amr Moussa had recommended the Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining to be the main coordinator of the Arab Industrial Forum, in cooperation with the countries of South America, which will be held in Rabat in September 2010."
"I have discussed with the Secretary-General, the arrangements for Arab economic forums, seminars and meetings, and requested Amr Moussa to attend those meetings; and he has agreed on that," he concluded.
