Over 45 Kurdish schools opened in Talkif

Nineveh, Feb. 8 (AKnews) The Educational Directorate in Talkif district has announced the opening of 46 Kurdish schools since 2004, according to the Director of Educational Directorate for Kurdish Studies in Talkif today.
"We are now having around 10,500 students, who are studying in Kurdish language in both primary and first intermediate grade since the opening of these schools in 2004," Resan Hassan told The Independent National News Agency of Kurdistan (AKnews).
Hassan said that "one-thousand teachers were appointed in these schools and the same educational system is followed there, as in Kurdistan Region."
"Ninety of the Kurdish schools belong to the Talkif Educational Directorate, while 25 were converted to The Educational Directorate in Bardarash, and the other remaining 20 were transfered to Sumel Educational Directorate," Hassan said.
He added saying: :All our equipment were supplied from Dohuk Educational Directorate. We are getting the stationery, furniture, computers, water tanks, as well as the heating fuel from there."
"There are 20 Arabic schools in our town, and we are coordinating with them only, on basis of teaching staff and supplying them with heating fuel; under the administration of Nineveh Educational Department," Hassan added.
Talkif town is 17 km west of Mosul .It is one of the towns which are under Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution and one of the disputed areas between the Federal Government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Erbil, comprising a mixture of religious, nationalist and sectarian people.
