IHEC lauds journalists on covering poll in Kirkuk

Kirkuk, March 15 (AKnews) – The Independent High electoral Commission (IHEC) – Kirkuk Office commended that role played by the journalists during the Iraqi poll process place in bringing success to the process in the city.
Alongside the presence of the representatives of the political entities in the vote stations, 300 local and foreigner media workers were also having activities at the vote centers to cover the process. Some were covering the events live that played a key role in encouraging people to participate in the electoral process.
Iraq Vote started on, March 7 Sunday. 19 million people in 18 Iraqi provinces were entitled to elect 325 Iraqi parliament members, 82 of them would be women. One million and 900 thousand voters were to cast ballots in 16 countries outside Iraq.
Hundreds of local and international journalists, observers and NGOs including the UN are eyeing the polls to bring success to the Iraqi newly born democracy.
