18/06/2012 16:05ERBIL, June 18 (AKnews) - The Iraqi Writers Union today welcomed the step taken by the Ministry of Culture in opening the Iraqi Cultural Center in London.
The union hopes the center will be a link between Iraqi intellectuals and British cultural institutions.
Union spokesperson Ibrahim Khayyat said: "Such a step will promote the role and culture of Iraq and there is a large number of Iraqi writers and intellectuals living in London.
"We realize that the Iraqi cultural centers opened in foreign countries are effective in strengthening our centers. The success of the cultural centers give a good impression about Iraqi culture about putting the right person in the right place instead of favoritism."
