ERBIL, June 19 (AKnews) - The Turkish Association of Art Journalists has decided to apologize to deceased Kurdish artist Ahmed Qaya after 13 years.
Turkish website Sabah reported that the association decided to apoligize to Qaya and reward him. Musician and Saz player Umed Yelmaz in Qaya's band will receive the award.
Qaya's wife Ghultan said: "Qaya deserves to receive an award because he dedicated his life to music and art.”
In 1999, Qaya was given an artist of the year award in Turkey and said that he was going to make a new album containing Kurdish songs.
Qaya was born in 1957 in Malatia. He fled the country due to Kurdistan Workers’ Party affiliation charges. The artist died in France in November 2000 and was buried in Paris.
