Japan returns artefacts to Iraq borrowed in 1982

ERBIL, Aug. 7 (AKnews) - Japan has returned to Iraq artefacts that were borrowed by Japanese archaeologist Hideo Fuji in the 1980s.

 

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry said Iraq's ambassador to Japan Luqman Abdul Rahim al-Feyli received 78 pieces taken from Tal Kubba and Sunker in the Hamrin area.

 

The various sized pieces borrowed in 1982 were kept in 15 boxes.

 

The ministry added in its statement that the artefacts were returned in coordination with the head of the Institute of Cultural Studies of Ancient Iraq at the Kukushikan Japanese University.
