Jamal Rashid in hospital after stroke
27/08/2012 07:40ERBIL, August 27 (AKnews) – Famous Kurdish historian Jamal Rashid is in hospital for a week in the Netherlands following a stroke and is currently in a dangerous condition.
Rashid cannot talk at the moment and has his blood sugar level raised following the stroke, reported Rudaw.
Rashid is a famous Kurdish historian from Kirkuk who wrote many books about Kurdistan. One of his most prominent books is "The Rise of Kurds in History", which is three volumes of 2,500 pages and was published by Aras Publisher in 2003.
The book caused stress among radical Muslims and angered Muslim clerics in the Kurdistan Region, some of whom mentioned the book in their Friday prayers. This later led to the release of many articles about the book on websites along with threats to hold demonstrations to condemn the book.
These efforts saddened and depressed the writer and restricted his writing and ability to leave his home.
