French businessmen to visit Kurdistan in mid-Feb

Sulaimaniyah, Feb. 8 (AKnews) – A delegation of French businessmen is expected to visit Kurdistan on 15 and16 of this month with intentions of investing in the region, a source said.
“To invest in the agriculture and irrigation fields in the Kurdish cities, a French delegation formed of government officials and the private sector representatives are planning to visit Erbil on 15 and 16 this month” Director of Planning and Follow-up at the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Ali Rashid, said.
The French officials will first conduct researches, funded by the French Ministry of Finance to the tune of 500 thousand Euros, on the water resources, population, and the number of the village in the region to collect data for the future agricultural and irrigation projects, according to Rashid.
The project will start in Erbil province in its first phase, which will expand to cover Dahuk and Sulaimaniyah province as well.
The delegation is expected to bring many French industries and investment companies in the future to Kurdistan Region to work in the agriculture sector, according to Rashid.
