Kirkuk, Mar. 13 (AKnews) – One bomb was defused while a wanted man was arrested in Kirkuk province's Duz Khurmatu district Saturday, Duz Khurmatu Security Director said.
One wanted ethnic Arab charged with terror and linked to several terrorist acts was arrested, Tahir Faqe said Saturday, before adding that "and a bomb was defused the same day"
Duz Khurmatu, 88 km south of Kirkuk, is populated by Kurds, Arabs, and Turcomans and it is one of the disputed areas by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Baghdad. It was formerly part of the Kirkuk province, but was annexed to Salahaddin province by the Baath regime to alter the demographic balance at the expense of indigenous Kurds.
