Four people killed in two attacks in Mosul

NINEVEH,
July 18 (AKnews) – At least four people were killed on Wednesday in two attacks
in the volatile city of Mosul, 405 km north of Baghdad, police said.
In
one incident, one woman and one of her sons were killed when unidentified
gunmen attacked them in their house in al-Zanjali area in western Mosul.
“The
gunmen used silenced guns to shoot them” a police source told AKnews. “The
woman died on spot, but her son died of his wounds in hospital”
In
a separate incident, two policemen were killed and a civilian was injured when
gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in al-Mansour area, in western Mosul.
The
gunmen were armed with silenced weapon.
Mosul
is Iraq’s most unstable city since 2003. The city is almost the scene of daily
attacks that mainly target security forces and Iraqi army.
Officials
blame al-Qaeda and remnants of the former Iraqi regime of carrying out the
attacks against the security forces.
