130 PKK fighters killed, says Turkey

ERBIL, August 6 (AKnews) – Turkey announced that some 130 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters were killed in deadly clashes with Turkish forces in the country.

Turkish Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin said the country faced the heaviest clashes in years, reported Hurriyet Daily News.

The minister added that 115 PKK fighters were killed in Hakkari and six soldiers and two government-paid village guards killed in Çukurca district in the eastern province.

The minister said the six soldiers and two government-paid village guards were killed on August 4 in a guerrilla attack on military outposts in Hakkari.

Also 14 guerrillas and a female suicide bomber were killed in the attack, he added.
