Dutch govt. suspends forced deportation of 1,300 Iraqis
08/08/2012 17:39ERBIL, Aug.8 (AKnews)- The Iraqi and Dutch governments have agreed to suspend the forced deportation of 1,300 Iraqi asylum seekers for six months.
The Iraqi Migration Ministry received the letter of its Dutch counterpart today which said the deportation of the asylum seekers (95% of them are Kurds) will be suspended for six months, Iraqi minister Dindar Doski said.
In the extended time, both ministries will cooperate to find a suitable solution for the asylum seekers "because we will not agree to their forced deportation," Doski said.
Amanj Abdulla, Kurdistan-based chief of International Federation of Iraqi Refugees said that his organization demands the forced deportations are stopped for good not temporary.
