Parliament’s extraordinary session cancelled by Maliki

Sulaimaniyah, Feb. 8 (AKnews) – Iraqi Parliament’s Monday extraordinary session was canceled by a formal letter from the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, a source said.
The extraordinary session would be tackling the return of the 517 barred candidates for the upcoming Iraqi polls, however, it was canceled as a letter from Maliki was read, Rauf Othman told the Independent National News Agency of Kurdistan (AKnews)
Maliki said in the letter that the Iraqi Appeals Court “will reconsider the case of the barred candidates one more time”, therefore a parliamentary session on the issue was not necessary, according to Othman.
The parliament was expected to hold the meeting regarding the return of the barred candidates on request of the Prime Minister days ago.
On Feb. 2, the appeals court ruled that all the alleged Bathist members banned by the Accountability and Justice Commission be back for polls.
