Kurdistan Alliance: "We'll get 8 to 10 seats in Nineveh"
Friday, March 12th 2010 10:01 AM
Nineveh, March 12 (AKnews) - Two Kurdish officials in Nineveh province said that Kurdistan Alliance List might get 8 to 10 seats in the province.
"I think that Kurdistan Alliance will be in the second place in Nineveh, and I expect that our share will be from eight to nine seats, according to our estimations and our political agents", Ghazi Furman, the relations official in Kurdistan Alliance List of Nineveh, told the Independent National News Agency of Kurdistan (AKnews).
Furman pointed out that the "quota seat allocated to Shabaks has become our share because the candidate Mohamed Jamsheed (close to the Kurdistan Alliance) may win at the expense of other candidates, including the current MP Hanin Qadu."
About the rising voices of some Yazidis against the lack of concern of Kurdistan Alliance with the Yazidi quota in Nineveh, Furman said: "We are confident in the Kurdish Yazidis, and we are confident that Yazidi Kurds are with Kurdistan region and they support the application of Article 140 and the Iraqi Constitution."
"There are 400000 Yazidis from Sinjar, Bashiqa, and Shikhan, then why should we take the share of one person only and not more?"
"We have in the Nineveh province seven Yazidi members in Nineveh list, and I think that more than one Yazidi candidate will win within Kurdistan Alliance list."
Muhyiddin Mezouari, the relations official in Kurdistan Patriotic Union for Mosul organizations told (AKnews): "The Kurdish Alliance in Nineveh will take its electoral entitlement with the efforts of its members in Nineveh."
He said: "the most important is that Kurdistan Alliance has proved its real presence in the disputed areas, and told the chauvinists that these areas are effectively Kurdish and its citizens voted for our list by more than 85%."
As for their expectations to what they may get, Mezouari said: "We are now the winning list in second place in Nineveh, and should not be hasty in giving the numbers because they would be only expectations, and we must be careful in this process because it is a mathematical process based mainly on the real facts, expectations are something and reality is something else."
He pointed out that: "Despite of noting a number of violations, because the Commission was not professional, and the managers of the centers and stations were loyal to Iraqiya list, I expect Kurdistan Alliance list to get from 8 to 10 seats."
The share of Nineveh province is 31 parliamentary seats and three quota seats, one for the Christians, another for Yazidis and one for Shabak.
