Three Political Parties Demand Vote Re-count in Sulaimaniyah

Sulaimaniyah, Mar.13 (AKnews) - The Electoral Commission’s head of Sulaimaniyah office announced that three political parties are demanding to repeat the special vote counting process in the province.

Three political partie, the Goran "Change" List, Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) and Kurdistan Islamic Group (KIG) have demanded to repeat the special vote counting process in the province of Sulaimaniyah.

"We have sorted 25 % of the special votes from the parliamentary elections since the elections start on Thursday, March 4 in all Iraqi provinces," Tahir Mohammad said.

"The commission officials need further time to sort the votes," he noted.

"We have submitted the electoral commission the statement to repeat the special vote sorting process in the province," The KIU Representative, Nasraddin Omar said.

"We have taken into consideration the above mentioned statement and we will submit it to the central electoral commission in Baghdad," Mohammad said.

Iraq Vote has started on March 7-Sunday. 19 million people in 18 Iraqi provinces are entitled to elect 325 Iraqi parliament members, 82 of them would be women. One million and 900 thousand voters cast ballots in 16 countries outside Iraq.

Hundreds of local and international journalists, observers and NGOs including the UN were eying the polls to bring success to the Iraqi newly born democracy.
