Iraqi sports official deprived from accompanying team to Sudan
30/06/2012 13:52BAGHDAD, June 30 (AKnews) - The managing director of the Iraqi national team Riad Abdul-Abbas will not accompany the team to Sudan today after being expelled from the previous match against Egypt, said the organizing committee for the Arab Cup.
Hussein al-Kharsani, the press delegate for the Iraqi national team, said the Iraqi delegation will submit a petition to the organizing committee of the tournament to cancel the punishment against Abdul-Abbas in light of the “unjust decision” and their belief that Abdul-Abbas did not insult the fourth referee or the referees team in general.
Tariq Ahmed, chairman of the Iraqi delegation, meanwhile revealed his satisfaction about the results achieved so far in the Arab Cup championship.
He added that the Iraqi team showed its usual performance level during the second half of the match against Egypt, hoping that the team continues to show this level and reach the finals of the tournament.
Sudan’s coach Farouk Jabra said in a statement to press delegate al-Kharsani that the match against Iraq will be very difficult due to the great experience of the Iraqi team.
Sudan’s Mohammed Faraj Allah will not take part in the match after receiving a red card during the match against Lebanon. Seven others received yellow cards in the same match.
